Happy National Camera Day!!!!

Funny to think that a couple of years ago photography was a hobby and my camera was just an expensive piece of plastic, metal, and glass that I was terrified to take out of the house and took crappy selfies with.  Now I lovingly refer to my camera as my baby (but not in like a creepy way), and I hardly go anywhere without it, a plastic bag (in case of rain) and a heavy duty carrying case.  Photography is MUCH more than a hobby!  My, how things change.

Today I celebrated with a wonderful photoshoot with some amazing ladies (more on that later)!  Now it's time for a cup of tea and some editing before bed.

~ the procrastination station ~

In lieu of a motivational blog post about the dangers of procrastinating and the feeling of accomplishment when a to do list is finished, I'm going to stare at my to do list until it does itself and watch Netflix until I feel like doing something else.

Nah....maybe another time.

~ girl power ~

Today I had the absolute pleasure of speaking to a wonderful group of girls about women's rights and the changes in fashion.  I had a blast!

Each girl was interested, engaged in the topic, and had a million great questions that I (luckily) had the answers to.

The details:

{vintage dress from Etsy, vintage hat from my sweet friend Katherine, earrings from my grandmother}

For my makeup I did my favorite 50s eyeshadow/cateye mix.

I had such a great time educating these girls and showing them bits from my collection.  I hope they had as much fun as I did!

And to round off this great day, I get to see one of my best friends on stage in Godspell tonight!!

Happy Thursday!

~ style rut ~

Lately my everyday outfits have consisted of jeans, a t-shirt or button up, flats or sandals, and a whole heap of boring.  Not a speck of vintage to be found.

Something clearly has to be done about that.  So here's a dose of my summer outfit, makeup, and hair inspiration.

It's ALL about the 50s and 60s...

1960's hair...i wish my hair could do this

Here's hoping this will be the inspiration needed to get me out of my style rut and back to my vintage vibe!

~ summer colors ~

This week I've required lots of dips in the pool and multiple cups of tea to keep me going...

But despite being insanely busy with work, classes, photoshoots, party planning, house cleaning, and kitten wrangling, I've noticed that this week has been very colorful in just about every way!

{flashback to last summer in Cortez}

Now my week would be even more colorful if someone bought me these heels from Modcloth...

~ stripe-aholics anonymous ~

I have a confession.  I AM OBSESSED WITH STRIPES.

I've got 99 problems and 98 are stripes.  Okay, so maybe that's a bit obvious, but I'm here to tell you the benefits to this "problem."

01. They go with everything.  Any color.  Any pattern.  Any pair of insanely bright pair of pants.

02. They're classic

03. They go this way

summer stripes

04. And that way

05. And the other way

.

06. You can look like Beetlejuice

07. You stand out in a crowd

08. They make getting dressed super easy.  Jeans + striped shirt + tan flats = instant chic

09. You can look like Audrey Hepburn, Jean Seberg, and James Dean

A photo of Audrey Hepburn on the set of War & Peace 1955, look as chic as ever in a Breton striped shirt.Jean Seberg in one of her famous striped breton shirts.
James Dean - The Breton stripe shirt. James Dean, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Joey Ramone, Coco Chanel, Jean Seberg, the list is endless of icons, male and female, who've sported the unisex nautical striped shirt. Born officially as part of the French sailors uniform to easily identify them if they fell overboard. The original shirt featured 21 stripes, one for each of Napoleon's victories.

10. You'll blend in well in a prison.
